Hi FL Independent! Thanks for the comment. NASA will not be able to help when a large meteor hits the earth. The Bruce Willis movie you saw was not a documentary.

Hi Tedd! Thanks for weighing in. I'm all for the hurricane warnings and most of the things you mentioned. I just don't like paying for it. Sub all that stuff out to private contractors and it will get done better, faster and cheaper.

LOL! You are of course referring to non-abelian gauge theory. It's unlikely that a Luddite would grasp the meaning, but tossing that theory around with quantum chromodynamics is bound to attract some "special" ladies.

I don't know how you can factor in or factor out "secondary contributions" or other creative mathematics to justify any cost to the taxpayers. The free market would determine those adjustments after NASA closes it's doors.

I like your suggestion about having the ability to proportionally select how our tax dollars are spent on government programs like NASA. I wonder it something like could ever be workable....."if they can put a man on the moon...." Thanks for the comment.

The NASA infrastructure could be sold off to private enterprise. The "worthwhile/profitable" operations will survive.
